Matt Epp

“Love in Such Strong Words” (released 2006)

Only one year after releasing his debut album, “You’ll Find Me Alone” (2005), Winnipeg singer/songwriter Matt Epp has completed his second album, “Love In Such Strong Words.” This highly collaborative project features many guest artists, resulting in a very rich and full acoustic texture throughout. “‘Love…’ is a bluesy, folksy ode to the Prairies and some of its finest players” (Uptown).

Sheena Grobb

“Safe Guarded Space” EP (released 2006)

Winnipeg singer/song-writer Sheena Grobb spins a series of captivating songs in her debut album, “Safe Guarded Space.” Voice and piano intertwine seamlessly to create a compelling musical momentum throughout each song. The atmosphere present in Sheena’s music also sounds reminiscent of Tori Amos. “Sheena’s songs are underscored by vocals that rip and soothe simultaneously.”

Mr. Pine

“The Gift of Wolves” (released 2006)

Winnipeg-based artists Matt McLennan and Kevin Scott have joined creative forces to produce Mr. Pine’s debut album. They describe this project as being “in some ways an ongoing recording experiment, in others a desire to create a timeless music incorporating folkish elements, hazy mysticism, demented maypole dances, and fractured poetry. Mr. Pine was always going to be an exploration into melodic realms, but we have not forgotten our love of the avant-garde - it will certainly creep in from time to time.”
